Our Latest Adventures

Playing outside with the dump truck and a cardboard box...

Going to the zoo with Wren! This is inside at the frog exhibit. There are also lots of other fun kid activities there.

Watching the red pandas.
Sitting with a red panda!
And Kate's newest favorite zoo activity-- riding on the merry-go-round. This weekend the family went over to the Smokies and up to Clingman's Dome. It involved a short, steep hike up a paved trail and then a weird ramp up to the observation tower. There were some clouds that were a bit ominous but it didn't rain until we were back in the car driving away. We do love being so close to the Smokies. It's like going on a short vacation, but we get to sleep in our own beds at night! An invasive insect, the Balsam Wooly Adelgid, is destroying tons of trees in the park.
Picnic in the Subaru after we walked back down.
Jackson playing by himself in the back of the car,
which, of course, means Kate must then join in.
Then we did a little hiking. Jamie picked out a hiking stick for Kate and Kate in turn picked one out for me. I'm holding it in my hand. Can't you see it?Kate's naming all the letters in the sign and tracing them with her finger.
Back at home, I got Kate to help a bit as I cleaned out the car.
